Physicians Have the Ethical Duty To Assist Patients and Society in Resolving Disputes

𝘿𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚 𝘼𝙩𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮: 𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙮?

Me: I have a 𝙙𝙪𝙩𝙮 to advocate for safe medical care

Defense Attorney: "Yeah, whatever 🙄"


Last week I had an ugly exchange

With an attorney who took exception to my post

𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙚 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙩


He accused me of:

• Being unethical
• Being a hired gun
• Being too transparent
• Being a sellout to my profession
• Being in violation of a code (𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚?)

All because I called out bad medicine

𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙡𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚


What he doesn't realize is:

• I have no say in lawsuit demands
• I have no role in settlement negotiations
• I have no place in professional reprimands
• I have no influence on the litigation strategy

All I do is speak to compliance with standards

𝙊𝙧 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚

❌Breaches are breaches


We all have a vested interest in safe medical care

• For ourselves
• For our families
• For our spouses
• For our children
• For society at large
